Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is therapy like?
To Start: Prior to us working together, I recommend you reach out via the contact box, text message, or my email to introduce yourself and schedule a 15-minute consultation call with me. Once we agree to work together, I will send you paperwork through a secure client portal to which you will make an account and have access to scheduling and documents anytime you need. The Timeline: Our first session always begins with an "intake." This is an opportunity for you to tell your story and discuss what brings you to session. We will go over some of your history and discuss goals you may have for therapy. The following sessions will flow wherever your journey takes us. Depending on your unique needs and goals, the timeline of therapy can be short-term or longer-term. However, it is most common to schedule sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. The Vibe: Therapy is a different experience for everyone depending on individual needs and goals. Generally speaking, you can expect to discuss past and current events including challenges, memories, questions, desires, insights, personal development, and more. It is important to me that therapy feels comfortable and safe for you. I will never judge you and all will remain confidential (unless you are an immediate danger to yourself or others). To learn more about my style and approach, click "service & approach" in the menu above. Your Responsibility: It is important to note that your session with me is a small portion of your week. That means the rest of the 167 hours you have of the week, is yours. Results will emerge when you implement the work we do in session, into your life outside of session. Therefor, it may be common for me to suggest practices, tools, or "homework," that you can incorporate into your life after each session. Therapy works best when you are an active participant. The more willing you are to do "the work" the more change you may experience.
  • What can I expect during the free 15 minute phone consultation?
To schedule your free 15 minute phone consultation with me, contact me via email or text and we will schedule a time that works best. At the time of your scheduled consultation, I will call you at the number you provided. During the consultation, you will give me a brief overview of what brings you to therapy, your questions, goals, and together we can discuss if I am a good fit for your needs and our options moving forward. The consultation will take about 15 minutes and It is free!
  • Do you take insurance?
Currently I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I do not directly participate with any insurance plans. However, it is possible that your insurance offers out-of-network benefits and may be able to reimburse you for therapy services by as much as 40-70%, depending on the plan. If this is something you are interested in, I recommend reaching out to your insurance provider and asking questions such as: • Does my plan offer any out-of-network benefits for mental health? • How much will I be reimbursed per visit when I see an out-of-network mental health provider? When you sign up to work with me, you will make an account on a secure client portal in which you'll have access to all billing documents anytime you need. By request, I can also send you monthly statements to which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
  • Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes! I do. I know that finances can be a source of stress in life. Although I do have a set rate, I offer a sliding scale for those experiencing financial hardship. If you are in need, please reach out to me via email and let me know and I will send you the correct financial hardship forms. This can also be discussed during our initial 15 minute phone consultation.
  • How does payment work?
Clients are responsible for full payment of our agreed-upon fee-for-service. Prior to the first session, you will sign up via the client portal on the secure platform that I will send you. The platform allows for easy automatic or manual pay and allows you to view all billing information at any time. The platform can also send you a superbill if you plan on submitting to insurance.
  • How do I know that all my information and our calls will remain secure and confidential?
All technology being used for our communication, sessions, and for storing your information are secure platforms that comply with HIPPA requirements. Therefor, all correspondence we share is secure and protected.
  • Can I contact you outside of session?
YES- I DO offer contact outside of session. Unlike traditional therapy, I believe in contact outside of session when it is needed. I have a HIPPA compliant secure phone-number that you can reach me at via text message or phone call (check the bottom of this page). However, please note that I am not on call 24/7 and cannot guarantee that I will answer right away. It is strongly recommended that you only reach out to me if needed (a crisis, an urgent challenge, or regarding something we discussed in session). Otherwise, texting is open for scheduling changes, questions regarding session, etc. If it is an emergency, contact emergency medical services.
